We've trained members in HSR for over 2 years, from complete beginners to competitive lifters. Every class is led by a qualified coach, every movement is scalable, and every program is designed to make you stronger, fitter, and more capable for life outside the gym.
Is Xthrive good for complete beginners?
Yes. Most of our members started with zero gym experience. Every class at Xthrive HSR Layout is coached from start to finish, every movement is scaled to your current ability, and you'll never be thrown into a workout without a proper briefing. Our coaches introduce you to fundamental movement patterns first (squat, hinge, push, pull, carry), then build from there across functional fitness, strength training, and calisthenics. If you can show up consistently, we'll handle everything else.
Is functional fitness the same as CrossFit?
Functional fitness is the training methodology. CrossFit is the brand that popularised it. At Xthrive, we use functional fitness principles (barbell strength, gymnastics and calisthenics movements, metabolic conditioning) with our own programming philosophy built around long-term athlete development. You'll see similar equipment and movement patterns, but the focus is on building you as an athlete over months and years, not crushing you in a single daily workout. Think of it as the methodology without the brand label.
What happens in a typical functional fitness class?
A typical class runs 60 minutes and has four parts: a structured warm-up, a skill or strength segment (barbell work, calisthenics, or gymnastics), a conditioning workout (the WOD), and a brief cool-down. The coach leads the entire session, so you're never left figuring out what to do next. Every workout is written on the board, explained, and demonstrated before you start. Group energy keeps you accountable. Coach oversight keeps you safe.
How is Xthrive different from a regular gym?
At a regular gym, you're on your own, with no programming, no accountability, and often no one to correct your form. Xthrive provides structured programming, daily coaching, and a community that keeps you showing up. The workouts change every day, are designed progressively across weeks and months, and are led by qualified coaches who know your name and your goals. What should I bring to my first class?
Wear comfortable training clothes and flat-soled shoes. Cross-trainers or weightlifting shoes are ideal. Thick-soled running shoes are less ideal for barbell work and calisthenics. Bring a water bottle and a small towel. All equipment is provided, including barbells, plates, pull-up rigs, gymnastic rings, and kettlebells. Arrive 10 minutes before class so the coach can give you a quick briefing before the session starts.
Can I train at Xthrive if I have an injury or health condition?
Yes, with the right precautions. Talk to us before your first session. Our coaches are trained to scale and modify movements around most common injuries, including knee, shoulder, and lower back issues, and many of our members train with pre-existing conditions across functional fitness and strength training. We'll never push you into a movement that causes pain. That said, please consult your doctor or physiotherapist for medical clearance if you're dealing with a serious condition. Let the coach know when you arrive and we'll take care of the rest.
Is it safe to train with a disc bulge or back issue?
Yes, with the right setup. For members dealing with disc bulges, sciatica, or other spinal conditions, we recommend an in-house consultation with our top-notch physiotherapist before you begin. Together, we'll build a training program tailored around your specific condition, identify which movements to avoid in the early phase, and progressively reintroduce strength training as your back rebuilds. Many of our HSR Layout members started with disc bulges and now squat, deadlift, and train pain-free. Recovery is a programming problem, and we're built to solve it.
Do you provide nutrition guidance at Xthrive?
Yes, we provide active on-floor nutrition guidance as part of every membership at Xthrive HSR Layout. Our coaches walk members through the basics of eating for strength, fat loss, recovery, and performance, with practical advice tailored to Indian food, your training load, and your goals. We don't push fad diets, supplement stacks, or one-size-fits-all meal plans. Just real, sustainable nutrition coaching delivered alongside your training, so the work you put in inside the gym actually shows up outside it.
Is Xthrive women-friendly?
Yes. Roughly half of our members in HSR Layout are women, training across every class we offer, from Olympic weightlifting to calisthenics to functional fitness. Our coaching team includes experienced female coaches, classes are coed by default, and the gym culture is built around respect and mutual support, not intimidation. New members of every gender, body type, and fitness level are welcomed and coached the same way: with patience, structure, and zero judgment.
Do you offer calisthenics classes at Xthrive?
Yes. Calisthenics is a core part of Xthrive's programming, woven into our functional fitness classes and offered as dedicated skill work for movements like pull-ups, muscle-ups, handstands, dips, and front levers. Whether you've never done a single push-up or you're chasing your first one-arm push-up, our coaches scale calisthenics progressions to your level. All sessions run inside our HSR Layout gym on dedicated rigs, parallettes, gymnastic rings, and pull-up bars.
What are the class timings at Xthrive HSR?
Xthrive HSR Layout runs multiple class slots daily, including early morning (6 AM and 7 AM), evening (5 PM through 9 PM), and dedicated weekend sessions like the Saturday Barbell Club.
